Sometimes when you're using your computer, you just get stuck and need some help Well, if this happens and you can't contact your buddy, try the Help and Support Centre found under your Start menu in Windows 7 In Windows 10 it is in the program list on the start menu and is called Get Help This centre provides a place for you to ask questions about Help topics, tutorials, troubleshooting and other general support options. The best thing of all is that it's located right there on your computer. If you ever run into any problems when no one else is available to help, just keep the support centre in mind and give it a try.
Also if you are in an Office program such as Word you can go to the question mark on the top far right hand side the page. Or you can also press F1 key on your key board. ~Annette
· To highlight a section of text: Hold down the "Shift Key", left-click at the beginning of the section. Then go to where you want the highlighted area to end and click again. Now the whole section is highlighted! Much easier than dragging. · If you are on a website that you like and would like to save it for future use simply click 'Ctrl D', and it will show up in your 'Favourites' menu. · If you have a problem viewing the START menu, tap the WINDOW'S Key on your keyboard. ~Annette The following tips are from Cyn's Tech Tips and are used by permission Chrome acting weird? Try this simple trick Chrome is the most popular browser these days. Normally, it works pretty well. But even a good product can have bad days. Maybe you're not able to type in certain fields or video looks funny. Maybe Chrome keeps freezing. Anytime a browser is acting a bit wonky, my first thought is to clear the cache. Fortunately, it's super-simple. Press the Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys. Note that I said Ctrl + Shift + Delete. Often times your brain is so used to seeing Alt in that sequence that it automatically inserts it. The Clear Browsing Data window will open. You'll have the choice to clear browsing history, cookies, and cached images and files. For this purpose, I'd suggest checking only Cached images and files. But you may wish to clear other data as well. Notice you also have the choice of a time range. Just click the drop-down arrow to choose anywhere from the last hour to all time. If you'd like a more detailed list of the data, click the Advanced tab. This will allow you to select specific data to clear. You can also adjust the time range. Once you've selected the data, click the Clear Data button. Internet Explorer acting up? Try this Here's a great tip if you're having an issue with Internet Explorer. I can't promise it will fix everything because you're going to start seeing more an more issues with IE. Microsoft is keeping it going because there are a great many business applications that depend on it, but they really aren't totally committed to fixing bugs or updating. They'd prefer you switch to Microsoft Edge. For example, IE doesn't handle HTML5 video in Windows 7. Clearing the cache won't fix that. But there are other issues like freezing, inability to fill in certain fields etc… that clearing the cache can solve. Let's look at how to do it. Press the Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys. Make sure you don't press Ctrl + Alt +Delete. since it's a common command, your fingers and brain may want to make that one happen. This window will open. Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History will be checked by default. The option to save your favorite sites will also be checked. For our purposes that should work. You can also clear form data, passwords, download history, and your Do Not Track information. Just press Delete when you've made your selections. The following tips is from Cloudeight Info and is used by permission How to Zip Folders in Windows 10 Without Any 3rd-party Software Since Windows XP, Windows has had a built-in compression (or zip) utility. And while the images in included in this tip were created on Windows 10, if you're using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 this tip pretty much works the same way. While not nearly as full featured as some third-party compression utilities (like 7-zip), the Windows compression (zip) utility lets you create zipped files and it's very easy to do. You can create a zip file from folder on your computer. Here's how: Chose any folder on your computer. For example, let's say you have pictures you took last Christmas in a folder in your Pictures folder. You can zip up your Christmas pictures folder this way: Right-click on the folder you want to zip Click on "Send to" then choose "Compressed (zipped) folder" from the menu which appears". That's it. The zipped file/folder will be created in the same location where original files/folders are located. Below you'll see I created 3 test folders. I added some pictures to each folder. Then for this tip, I compressed (zipped) the folder I called Test Folder 3. See? The original folder remains untouched, but all the files in Test Folder 3 are zipped inside the Test Foler3 zipped file. You can rename your compressed folder the same way you rename any other folder. Notice above, renamed Test Folder3.zip to Wallpaper-2018.zip. If you forgot to add some pictures to the folder before you zipped it, no problem. Here's how to add files to a zipped file. Just drag and drop any file that you want to add to the zipped file and it will automatically be included in the zip file. When you drag and drop a file to the zip file, it will be added to the zip file without changing or removing the original file. Now you know how create compressed (zip) files in Windows 10 without using any 3rd-party software. Can't see pictures anymore in Gmail through your Internet Browser
